It all started with a tattoo. That’s right, a tattoo of a blue heron- placed directly on my mid back. The heron is my spirit animal.
According to North American Native tradition, the Blue Heron brings messages of self-determination and self-reliance. The Heron represents an ability to progress and evolve. The long thin legs of the heron reflect that an individual doesn't need great massive pillars to remain stable but must be able to stand on one's own. Blue Herons have the innate wisdom of being able to maneuver through life and co-create their own circumstances. Blue Herons reflect a need for those with this totem to follow their on unique wisdom and path of self-determination. These individuals know what is best for themselves and need to follow their hearts rather than the promptings of others.
And yes, this does represent me. I began very early organizing and running a children’s entertainment business. After I turned 21 and entered the corporate work force this creative aspect fell away making room for, well, making a living.
After my third child was born, I left corporate America and started my own company refinished antiques. This morphed into a high-end cabinet business in the Austin Texas area where I ran LWi Custom Cabinets for 22 years.
Always interested in art, I began to paint in 2012 as an evening distraction. And I found, I was, well pretty decent at it. Over the next 10 years- I continued to expand my artistic side. I did art shows across the US and displayed in Galleries in the Texas Area.
I moved to Granbury Texas in 2019 and spent a lot of time painting during the shelter period of life in 2020. In 2023 I decided to open the Heron House Gallery where I am today.
